Hey, There!
I’m Rebecca.

It has taken me a while to get to this point. My blogging journey started in 2014, with a blog called “Girl In London: Seeking A Life”, where I attempted to explore and understand my mental health and the difficulties that I was facing at the time. By 2017, I had completely changed my life and I started a blog called “Small World, Big Cause” which coinsided with my newfound focus on the environment. This is where I was able to hone my style and figure out what I really wanted out of life – and blogging!

Now, here we are in 2021, we are *fingers-crossed* coming out the other side of a global pandemic and there has never been a better time to focus on looking after the planet and evaluating our place within the Earth’s ecosystem.

“The Curious Environmentalist” is my attempt to answer the questions about our planet, the species that call it home and the issues that we all face.

Small Feet, Big Steps

“At 25 years old, I decided that my life was going nowhere fast and that it was only going to change if I was brave and took the leap. Now, rapidly approaching 30, I am understanding how having a healthy planet, healthy body & healthy mind, all come hand-in-hand. It is my hope that this blog will help me connect with others who are striving for a fulfilling & sustainable life.”

It takes a team.

“The Curious Environmentalist” is a platform for me, but I wouldn’t be able to dedicate my time to it without my team. My wonderful, supportive boyfriend, Mickey, is a key cog in this machine! Doing a sterling job at helping me find my voice and grow my audience – as well as being a dab-hand in the kitchen. He is, most certainly, a keeper.

A huge thank you also has to go to my enduring family who are always on hand to hear my latest idea and to offer their expertise when possible. They all kick-ass on a daily basis and I couldn’t be myself without them.

Lastly, a shout-out to those who I work with at the aquarium. I was not the most qualified for the position but they took a chance on someone who was almost too enthusiastic and I haven’t looked back! They give me the chance to learn and evolve every day and I am so grateful for all the opportunities they have given me.

Change Is Good.

I currently work as a Freelance Virtual Assistant & Junior Aquarist, on top of writing this blog. Plus – if that wasn’t enough, I am also studying towards my BA (Hons) Environmental Studies with The Open University. The further I get with my studies, the more I discover how many wonderful, intelligent, inspirational people there are all around – it has really helped to restore my faith in humanity & to see the world a little brighter than before – I suggest a love for nature to anyone who will listen! I have also learnt so much about my own mental health and how best to manage it – through a lot of trial & error! Now, I firmly believe that there is a way forward towards a fulfilling & sustainable life out there for us all, we just have to be brave enough to take the steps to reach it.

Currently, me and my boyfriend are based in Hastings, UK. We have previously lived in West London and spent time travelling around both Germany & South East Asia.

Small Feet, Big Steps

“Every day I am learning something new about myself & the world around me – which is exciting! With a new lease of life & a great support system around me, I am on course to reach some of my life goals; to graduate, to see the world, and enjoy life to the fullest!”
