Where to find delicious vegan recipes!
In May 2019 the UK has declared a climate emergency, 2020 the pandemic hit, 2021 we are seeing a number of extreme weather events globally and who knows what 2022 is planning… hopefully these events have spurred us all to take a look in the mirror and make some positive changes to the way we live our day-to-day lives. There are many ways that we can live more sustainably and reduce our carbon emissions but one of the easiest ways is to change our diets. So today I want to take a look at Veganism. Now bare with me!! I know that this is a controversial topic but… if you love food as much as I do then you owe it to your mealtimes to try some new recipes – what have you got to lose?
I know that the thought of giving up meat and dairy can sound AWFUL. It seems super boring and saying goodbye to your favourite comfort food. Now, I don’t ever want to pressure people into committing to veganism when it isn’t for them, but maybe if I point you all in the direction of some websites that offer accessible and delicious vegan recipes then maybe you will be tempted to try a few of them out and try to make more vegan choices in your day-to-day life!

Where to find delicious vegan recipes.
There are many misconceptions about embracing a vegan diet:
1) that it is boring and you will have to eat salads all the time
2) you will miss meat and dairy and therefore binge on vegan substitutes
3) you will lack certain nutrients and vitamins
4) buying vegan is more expensive
These are not true!!! I am not a full-time vegan but I have done Veganuary twice and I try to eat vegan as much as possible. Many of the recipes that me and my #WonderfulSupportiveBoyfriend have tried during our vegan periods have placed firmly in our repertoire purely because they are delicious!
When looking for some vegan inspiration, the below are the sites that I always head to first so I have provided links to recipes that I think sound particularly tasty that might be a good place to start on your vegan journey!
Veganuary – https://veganuary.com/recipes/
There are plenty of recipes on the Veganuary website to get you started. They also have some great pages on where to eat out and what is vegan-friendly on the menus, I have found this endlessly helpful (especially when dining with meat-eaters!)
The recipes are sorted into different cultures with everything from Italian to Thai, from Mexican to Irish – there really is something for everyone.
Cookie & Kate – https://cookieandkate.com/recipes/
This website is great. It’s got a whole section for vegan recipes but it also has options for people with additional dietary needs such as gluten-free.
They also categorize their recipes by meal so if you are thinking of what to cook for dinner or for Sunday morning breakfast then you can filter the recipes to those that are relevant.
BOSH! – https://www.bosh.tv/recipes
BOSH! do great recipes and are fantastic at recreating non-vegan favourite, such as baked camembert.
They have 2 recipe books if you find their recipes easy to follow, but they also have recipe videos on their website to start off with.
Connoisseurus Veg – https://www.connoisseurusveg.com
I have found some of the best fool-proof recipes on this site.
Some of the recipes that really convinced my boyfriend to eat more vegan came from this site.
They are easy to follow and delicious, and there is great variety.
Hot For Food – www.hotforfoodblog.com
This recommendation actually came from my vegan sister – this site has some really delicious looking comfort food recipes that happen to be vegan! Here are some of the recipes that caught my eye – have a browse and see what makes your stomach rumble!
Why not challenge yourself to make 1 vegan recipe this week? Try something new, push yourself out of your comfort zone and maybe you will find a delicious new recipe to add to your go-to recipes!
